Finding the right rug for your home can seem a bit tricky, but it’s really pretty simple. The first thing you want to do is make sure you’ve decided 0n the correct size. You want to measure the size of your space and consider how the rug will fit into that space. All of our 11×13 rugs are approximately 10 feet 8 inches by 12 feet 9 inches. If you’re considering placing the rug in your living room, you want to make sure that all of your furniture can rest on the rug. You don’t want the legs of your furniture to stop right where your rug starts. It can mean the rug will bunch up and create a possible trip hazard. It will also keep both your rug and your furniture from sliding. Not to mention, it just looks better to have all of your furniture resting on your rug (otherwise, it might look like your rug is a bit too small for the room).
One thing I really love about an 11×13 rug is just how much space the rug can cover in a room. Worried about protecting your hardwood? Want to keep as much furniture as possible from sliding? Or do you just want to cover as much of your floor as possible with a beautiful design? An oversized rug can help with all of it. Often I find customers are debating between going with multiple rugs of the design or one oversized rug. My personal opinion is that multiple rugs can be great. However, if the rugs are going to be right next to each other, touching, I find that can look a little crowded and a single 11×13 is the safer bet.
The next thing you should pay attention to when choosing an 11×13 rug is the design and colors. You obviously want to find a design you love, but if you are having a little trouble deciding then it’s best to go off the colors. Look at the colors that are already in the room you’re trying to find a rug for. Try to find the colors from your room in one of the rug designs. Also, you can try to find colors in the rug that are complementary to the colors in your room. For instance, if you have a lot of earth tones and muted colors then you can try to find a rug with similar colors. However, this isn’t always the case. If you have a lot of dark and brownish colored furniture, for example, then adding a bright rug with reds, oranges, or blues can really breathe a new life into the room and help it pop.
